The night of ideas, is a philosophical event organized every year by the French Institute of Greece. For its fifth edition, the French Institute of Greece and Eleusis 21 gathered May 18 and 19, intellectuals, artists, landscape architects, researchers, journalists, poets, students, to debate about the notion “slowness”.
Language and time are the protagonists within the visual identity we designed for the night. By analyzing the word “time” in a bilingual situation we observed an interesting visual coincidence: when one connects ‘le temps’ and ‘o χρόνος’ in a circular diagram one could create a ‘Φ’. The Phi, known as symbol for the golden ratio, philosophy, magnetic flux, Veblen function, and other perfect harmonies, seemed to us a suitable “point de depart/retour” or sign to unite under.
