Cookbook is a publication by knead_studio an artist run collective that is kneading together seemingly distinct categories such as sculpture, cuisine, design and exhibition in to a new kind of social DIY ‘gesamtkunstwerk’. The book is archiving in French, English and Greek 12 recipes that were served during a circle of 12 exhibitions hosted in their artist run space in Athens. For every exhibition a guest artist was asked to design a flag, hanged outside on corner of the space. The cover of the publication is then also typically made with a wrapped poster that regroups chronologically all the flags, composing in sorts a new flag. To continue kneads choreography of sharing we made the layout of the content to be spacious, grid based and as straightforward as possible emphasizing knead’s open source ethic. The pages are punctuated by the numbers of past days and months turning in to an abstracted timecode that could with this manual be repeated at any time and kitchen of the future.
